ESTABLISH is focused on bridging the gap between all communities who teach and learn about science together with those who use science as part of their daily lives.  This collaboration has informed all of the project’s activities and content, with input from communities such as academic, educational, scientific together with industrial and user communities. 

This second element highlights the linkages between science in the classroom and science in the real world, in what we have termed Industrial Content Knowledge (ICK) and provides suggestions on how similar links can be strengthened, together with a number of activities to make science and technology learning a more authentic and fruitful experience.

The Learning Objectives of this TEP element are to:

  • Raise awareness of the relevance and benefits of ICK in IBSE
  • Appreciate the diversity and variation of ICK experiences
  • Develop ICK for their inquiry lessons
